The final act of the night on the Alppipuisto stag The final act of the night on the Alppipuisto stage will be the energetic Frankosun and the Family. This a fresh and fine-tuned afrobeat orchestra is sure to make you get up and dance! 🔥 Frankosun and the Family mixes the 1970s and 1980s afrobeat of Benin and Nigeria with relaxed elements of afrofunk and afrorock, echoes of Finnish folk music as well as rhythms from the lead singer’s homeland and the Nago tribe of Benin. 🇧🇯 Their blend of music is energetic with an intense set that puts a smile on everyone's face! #frankosunandthefamily #afrojazzclub #alppipuistonkesä #kulttuurikameleontit
Njara Rasolomanana, who will perform at Alppipuist Njara Rasolomanana, who will perform at Alppipuisto next Sunday, is a talented dancer, dance teacher, and choreographer living and working in Helsinki. He has been a professional dancer for over two decades, and toured Europe and Africa with his dance company "Cie Up the Rap (Madagascar)". Their work is based on fusing Malagasy traditional dance, Hip hop and Afro-contemporary. At the moment, Njara has his own studio in Helsinki and will be dancing with 4 of dance groups this Sunday for the Festival. Dance groups are: VAKANA and NDC (Afro contemporary), DIAFRO and VAIAV (Afro). On Sunday at Alppipuisto there will be a variety of delicious new flavors.🤤 Gina's Afro-Cameroonian Cuisine, Awa Senegal, Oby’s Restaurant, Pau Brazil Cafe ja Ape Gelato ice cream stand will be treating our festival visitors all day long! Oby’s restaurant has on its menu Black-eyed beans stew, Cornflakes chicken, Vegetable jollof rice, Fried plantain, and plenty more. Gina’s Afro-Cameroonian Cuisine serves delicious Cameroonian food and there will be vegan options as well. Every year we have had a surprise act at the Afroj Every year we have had a surprise act at the Afrojazz Club goes Alppipuisto, and this year it will be Afro Brazilian Capoeira roda! ☀️ Capoeira is a part of Afro Brazilian Culture and is now considered a martial art, a dance and a form of expression for people. Today it’s practiced in over 160 countries. Capoeira currently aims to promote health and wellbeing for everyone who practices it. DJ Nice has span records in most of the biggest cl DJ Nice has span records in most of the biggest clubs in the Helsinki Metropolitan area and abroad. Nice has some impressive achievements on his resume such as being the warmup act for big starts such as Jason Derulo, Burnaboy, Lloyd Banks etc. 🔥 He is also the main organizer of the legendary Hiphop and RnB Club GLAMOUR and one of the biggest Afrobeats club in Finland AFROGLAM. This man is guaranteed to keep the spirits high and makes sure everybody leaves the dancefloor with a smile! DJ Nice will start the show on the main stage at 13:00 at the Afrojazz Club goes Alppipuisto event on 10.7. Traditional West African sounds are brought to Alp Traditional West African sounds are brought to Alppipuisto by Malang Cissokho. Malang plays the West African kora and sings traditional songs of the Mandinka tribe and his own compositions. Malang Cissokho, who has lived in Finland for a long time, is a relative of traditional West African musicians, griots, from Casamance, the original southern part of Senegal. In Senegal, Malang worked e.g. in the band Youssou N'Dour and in Finland he is remembered from the ranks of J. Karjalainen Electric Sauna and the beautiful kora portions and vocals on the hit song “Väinö”. Broadcaster, podcaster and educator, Amkelwa Mbeke Broadcaster, podcaster and educator, Amkelwa Mbekeni-Kapanen will be the host of Afrojazz Club goes Alppipuisto. ☀️ Amkelwa’s interest in radio has taken her to renowned radio stations on three continents, beginning in South Africa at the studios of Cape Town's premier talk station, Cape Talk 567. In Finland, she hosted the weekly radio show, Foreign Matters on Radio Helsinki – a show that took a look at the lives of foreigners in Finland through a different lens. Presently she is the co-host of Planet Earth Planet Rap, which is a weekly segment on international Hip-Hop in Chuck D's "And You Don't Stop!" radio show in New York. Amkelwa is also currently producing and presenting her podcast "I and Am" as well as "PEPR:The Virtual World Tour". She hosts events, moderates panel discussions both live and online.
